Capitol Centre Phase I Podium Renewal
In the heart of one of the world's densest retail districts, the Capitol Centre is a
strategic intervention that transforms an aging, LED-wrapped podium into a
clear urban frame. Faced with a complete lack of original structural drawings
and zero tolerance for external setbacks, the project is a survey-driven exercise
in "carving" proportion from the building's own depth.
Capitol Centre Phase I – Framing Connection
The design reveals the real-time movement of city life. By mapping the existing
structure and services, the renewal recovers the building's original late-1970s
integrity while adapting it to contemporary commercial use. It stands as a
mediator between the raw vitality of local hawker lanes and the polished
frontage of luxury malls—a resonant interface where circulation becomes part
of the city’s shared life.
